Anti- Corruption Training for Police Officers in Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi

Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL) has conducted an anti-corruption intervention training workshop for police officers in Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi Districts on 19th and 20th July 2014 respectively. The training was conducted by the legal arm of the TISL Shelter for Integrity, Vavuniya branch with the coordination of Vanni districts Deputy Inspector General’s office.

More than 120 police officers from the two districts attended the workshops where the participants were trained on anti-corruption initiatives and the active role they can play in combating corruption. Laws pertaining to combating corruption was one of the highlights of the agenda and they discussed when and how they should mediate in a corruption related complaint or incident at the workshop.

Training was conducted by A. K. Chandrakantha, former deputy director of CIABOC and attorney at law Jagath Liyanarachchi manager Shelter for Integrity. U. K. Disanayake DIG of Vavuniyava , Champika Siriwardana Mullaitivu SP, and Edmand Mahendra Kilinochchi SSP should be commended for their support and cooperation.
