Transparency International Sri Lanka has conducted workshop on Financial Accountability, Public Participation, Anti Corruption and Good Governance for elected Members of the Rideemaliyadda and Meegahakiwula Pradeshiya Sabas. Over 500 public officials and CBO representatives from 82 ‘grama niladhari ‘ divisions in Polpithigama in the Kurunegala district were trained at 26 Workshops on Anti-Corruption and Good Governance conducted by TISL’s TISl’s Capacity Building Unit (CBU) . Divisional Secretary- Polpithigama, R.M.Rathnayaka, Asst. Div Secretary, R.P.G. Podineris & TISL’s Sandun Gunawardana(TISL) were the resource persons.
Twenty one journalists, both from the provinces and national media, attended a three-day residential workshop on Investigative Journalism organized by TISL at Hotel Global Towers, Colombo-6 recently. Nearly 500 (494 to be exact) public officials and community leaders from Mawathagama and Polpithigama divisions of the Kurunegala district underwent training on anti-corruption and good governance at 14 workshops recently conducted by TISL’s Capacity Building Unit.
The Capacity Building Unit (CBU) of TISL conducted a one day training programme on Anti Corruption and Good Governance on the theme of “Strengthening Transparency, Integrity and Accountability: Preventing Corruption through Community Participation/Voice”. Leaders of Community Based Organizations (CBO) within the division of Mawathagama Divisional Secretariat took part in this one day programme.

Twenty seven provincial journalists in Badulla district participated at a TISL workshop on ‘investigative journalism” held on 16 & 17 October 2008 at River Side Holiday Inn, Badulla. Accent was on understanding their role in reporting issues of corruption in society.
